United Methodist Women

From its beginning, United Methodist Women (UMW) has focused on ministries with women, children and youth. A special emphasis of the organization has been to involve young women in all the ministries and leadership of United Methodist Women.

United Methodist Women members raise up to $20 million each year for programs and projects related to women, children, and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world. Locally, The Fort Payne First United Methodist Church UMW supports the Back to School Fair, UMYF Clothes for Christmas, the United Methodist Children’s Home, Kelly’s Rainbow (a domestic violence shelter), Camp Sumatanga, Serving Our Savior (a compassion ministry of Fort Payne First United Methodist Church), Vacation Bible School and World Missions.

United Methodist Women welcomes all women who commit themselves to our Purpose ; To be a community of women of all ages, whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, and to develop a creative supportive fellowship in order to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

As a woman in our church, you are already a member.  Please come join us, and experience the Love of Christ through Christian Women fellowship.

The 3 United Methodist Women’s sub-groups that our church offers:

Christian Fellowship

The Christian Fellowship sub-group is comprised of mainly seniors, although some younger members seem to enjoy this group. We meet on the Second Tuesday of each month at 10:00 am in Cobble Hall. New members are always welcome in our Christian Fellowship group. This group has one of the best attendance records of the Church, and everyone enjoys the fellowship with each other as we grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ.

Susanna Wesley

The Susanna Wesley sub-group is made up of mostly ladies who have reached the “empty nest time” in their lives. We are developing a creative, supportive fellowship with other United Methodist women. Our purpose is to get to know and support one another as we participate in other ministries of our church by raising money, praying for, and assisting in our church’s various mission projects. We invite you to join us the first Thursday of each month, September through May. These meetings are held in members’ homes where we share our joys, concerns, laughs, and sometimes tears. We share an inspiring devotion and save a time to discuss our various projects. We enjoy light refreshments and visiting with our sisters in Christ.

Agape

Agape sub-group is a diverse group of women from stay-at-moms to full time working mothers. We gather once a month to discuss serving opportunities in our church and the surrounding communities, and we enjoy fellowship with other women in our church. We laugh, eat, talk about our lives and how we can make an impact for Christ. Join us on the first Thursday of every month September through May.
